What to Expect When Visiting Calheta, Madeira Islands, Portugal
Calheta is a town on the west side of Madeira, famous for its warm climate, exotic vegetation, lakes & waterfalls, deep valleys & mountains and also home for some of the best walking trails and Levada walks in Madeira. It’s trully a unique experience where I’ll introduce you to my favourite places on the island.
This experience is totally private and only with a maximum of 6 participants and I’ll adapt to your pace and rhythm so you can enjoy every second and always far from massive crowds, super busy and highly frequented routes where everybody normally goes.
During our walking tour we’ll walk inside the original forest of Madeira (World Heritage of UNESCO ) and where we can find all the endemics birds, flowers and trees of Madeira. During our experience we’ll encounter local farmers and I’ll explain and introduce you to my favourite places, the history behind this water canals, the plantations, exotic fruits and the fauna & flora from the region.
I’m an official mountain guide with almost 16 years of experience and I usually guide walks all over Madeira and if there’s a specific walk or hiking trail that you’d like to do, it will be a pleasure to take you there.
