VIEWPOINT BALCONY DOS CARQUEIJAIS
The Varanda dos Carqueijais is a viewpoint halfway between the city of Covilhã and Penhas da Saúde, in Serra da Estrela. And practically in front of the Hotel dos Carqueijais.
From this viewpoint you can see the flat surface of Cova da Beira. At the bottom of the slope you can see the city of Covilhã that extends to the base of the mountain, where the elevation of Serra da Estrela begins.

Located at an altitude of about 1500m, Penhas da Saúde is located in the heart of Serra da Estrela, surrounded by fauna and flora that make you breathless.
The charm of Penhas da Saúde does not end, however, in the white mantle that invades the horizon in the winter months. With the thaw of the snows in mid-April, new colors appear in the landscape, unique shades that cannot be missed for those who want to feel nature.
Despite being an eminently touristic location, with several hotel structures and close to the Ski Resort, it maintains the spirit of a mountain community, where tourist modernity lives side by side with nature.
