Ferragudo Trip Overview
On this tour we are going to visit Portuguese Tiles (Azulejos) murals that were designed and painted by me and can be found in different parts of Ferragudo, one of the most typical fishing villages of Portugal.
I am Carla, and I’ve been painting Azulejo for the last 30 years and I’m certified by CENCAL, a well-known Portuguese school of ceramics. My Azulejo studio its in Ferragudo.
I live in Ferragudo for 3 decades, I know the place well and its people, and I love to share my art and to socialize with other people.
On this bike tour we will visit 4 Azulejo murals, we will talk about the tiles techniques and curiosities, and at the same time, we will discover the cultural and historic Ferragudo.
Come with me and learn about Azulejos, an ancient art in Portugal that we portugueses use for the last 500 years, and get to know Ferragudo, one of the most beautiful villages of Portugal.

Itinerary

Stop At: Ferragudo, Ferragudo, Faro District, Algarve
I’m Carla, I paint portuguese tiles – Azulejos. My studio is in Ferragudo, a village where there are several Azulejo murals designed and painted by me, and I want to show you some of them, specially the ones related to the local culture and history.
Along the tour we will stop on 4 murals called: “Épocas”, “O Castelo”, “O Pescador” and “Identidade da Vila”.
We will talk about the Portuguese tiles history, the painting techniques, and the culture and history of Ferragudo and its people.
And because the murals are on the highlight points of Ferragudo, you will know the most interesting places in the village. Ferragudo is considered one of the most typical fishing villages of Portugal, and I’m sure you will love it!
We will pass near by São João do Arade Castle, go downtown to the restaurants and local shops area, ride up to Nossa Senhora da Conceição Church, and pass through one of the most beautiful and typical streets on the village.
