Our Gatro Hike will start at Eira do Mourão, and on the way to the viewpoint we will be able to observe the vine cultures and learn a little about the great Madeira Wine, why it is so famous, and also what historical figures had in this wine your favourite, our walk will last about 2.5 hours, most of which will be flat to the Belfry, where we will have a meal that includes, a regional kebab, salad, potato, wine or juice, and a poncha, along the trail we will be able to observe the Serra de Agua valley, where our guide will explain the geological formation of the island, as well as talk about the trail we will take which is full of history, as this is one of the main levadas that bring the water from the north to the south of the island.
Our guide will introduce you to the various species of fauna and flora that we will find along the levada, always taking care to explain to you how species of flora are used in Madeira’s gastronomy. In the end we will return to the meeting point and we hope you have had an experience to tell the world about.
