Walk along a Madeiran levada (irrigation canal) through the valleys of São Jorge on this 8-hour, 13Km guided walking tour from Funchal. Your day begins with a 9am pickup from selected hotels in Funchal. Be sure to be wearing sports shoes with a good grip, or hiking boots, and to bring a packed lunch as there is nowhere to purchase food along the route.

This walk takes you through the beautiful valleys of São Jorge, to some of the lushest places to be found on the island. While walking through Madeira’s rain forest, you can see the profusion of herbs and medicinal plants that abound in these valleys while learn about the healing properties of these ancient remedies.

There is also an opportunity to walk through or behind a teeming waterfall to one of the most peaceful spots on the 8-hour tour.

Your day concludes with a drop-off back at the original departure point at around 5pm.
