Your day begins with a pickup from your Funchal area hotel or the port. Head for Funchal harbor from where the ferry boat to Porto Santo departs.
Upon arrival at Porto Santo harbor, begin your island tour in a comfortable minibus. The tour is about 2.5-hours-long and offers panoramic views of the south bay and the mountains of the north coast. Along the way your local guide offers details about the island’s history and its residents, which once included the explorer Christopher Columbus.
Places visited include Calheta, a spot popular among islanders for swimming and relaxing on the sandy beach; the lush gardens of Quinta das Palmeiras, the steep, volcano-shaped Pico Castelo, the Casa da Serra cultural house, and the viewpoint at Miradouro da Portela.
At the end of the day, you are driven back to Porto Santo harbor to board the ferry back to Funchal. From there another driver takes you back to your hotel.
