What makes Private Full Day Island Tour in Madeira a unique experience ?
Located in one of the most surprising places on the island of Madeira, the statue of Christ the King of Garajau is one of the most emblematic monuments on the east coast. It is a must-visit point, which captivates visitors with its unique landscape setting.
The statue of Christ the King of Garajau was erected in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It can be found at the viewpoint overlooking Ponta do Garajau, in the municipality of Santa Cruz. The monument was financed and built by Aires de Ornelas, son of the last morgado of Caniço. Its inauguration took place on October 30, 1927. On that date, the road that connects the town of Cancela to the Monument was also opened to traffic.
Overlooking the Machico valley, Pico do Facho Viewpoint offers visitors an extremely beautiful panoramic view. This is one of the most privileged sites to contemplate Madeira’s east coast.
This observatory is located on a path that, before reaching the Caniçal tunnel, goes up to the summit of Pico do Facho. It is a site filled with historical symbolism for the region: due to its altitude, large bonfires were lit here in the old days when it was necessary to warn the population about the arrival of enemy vessels.
This 3 km trail (+ 3 km return) will take you to discover the eastern tip of the island, with panoramic views of the north and south sides. Of medium difficulty, and expected to last 2h30, the PR 8 Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço runs along the peninsula with this same name.
Even though it is an undulating path, the good conditions of Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço offer a pleasant walking experience. It is a peninsula of volcanic origin, mostly basalt, but with some formations of limestone sediments. Following it, there are two islets: Ilhéu do Desembarcadouro and Ilhéu do Farol.
Located on one of the slopes of the mouth of Ribeira do Faial, in the municipality of Santana, the Guindaste viewpoint offers a stunning view over the coastal line of the north coast of Madeira. It is the ideal place to admire the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean that bathes the island.
The “little houses of Santana” have become icons widely known nationally (and beyond) for the peculiar beauty of their architectural style. With a triangular shape and covered in thatch, they are the greatest symbol of this municipality on the north coast of the island of Madeira.
In fact, these typical houses are a reflection of the isolation of this location, which for a long time was difficult to access by land and sea. The preservation of unique cultural traits, as a result of this contingency, has become a heritage of enormous value for this municipality, which currently has around 8800 inhabitants.
The unique characteristics that mark the north coast of the island of Madeira are clearly present in its beaches and bathing complexes, from where you can see the green mountains with their lush vegetation descending to the sea.
The Calhau de São Jorge Bathing Complex, in the municipality of Santana, is located at the mouth of the São Jorge river and has a small beach, from which you can admire truly stunning scenery, while indulging in the typical activities of a day at beach.
Running along the coastal road next to the São Vicente tunnel, we came across a magnificent spectacle: the Água d’Alto waterfall, which runs in the north of the island. Madeira has much more to offer
Located on the old road that connects São Vicente and Seixal, it is one of the most iconic spots (and shared on social media) on the north coast of the island of Madeira. We are talking about the emblematic Véu da Noiva Waterfall, whose beauty can be admired from the Véu da Noiva viewpoint.
Through this viewpoint it is then possible to admire this unrepeatable landscape in complete serenity. The waterfall that projects down the slope, towards the sea, was named so due to its height and the great abundance of water that gushes from it. It therefore resembles the romantic veil of a wedding dress, contrasting with its verdant surroundings.
On the north coast of the island of Madeira, there is a corner known for its unique beauty. Porto de Abrigo do Seixal beach, also known simply as Seixal beach, is an authentic living postcard. As such, its landscape has won over lovers of the sea, nature and, of course, photography.
The scenery is painted in harmonious tones: a black sand bathed by the Atlantic and protected by cliffs and verdant mountains. This place therefore appears to be a green amphitheater, offering bathers a peaceful atmosphere.
The north coast of the island of Madeira is rich in imposing mountainous scenery, where the green of the slopes is complemented by the crystal-clear blue of the Atlantic. This is the case of the stunning landscape setting that can be viewed from the Ribeira da Janela viewpoint.
Located precisely at the top of the Ribeira da Janela parish, in Eira da Achada, this viewpoint allows you to see the parishes of Seixal, São Vicente and Ponta Delgada. The picture is completed, of course, with the beauty of the rugged and rocky outline typical of the coastline of this region of Madeira.
Inaugurated in 2009, Ribeira da Janela viewpoint has a series of infrastructures that make it pleasant for both tourists and local population. On this site, it is then possible to find sanitary facilities, spaces for children, areas prepared for picnics and a parking area.
Porto Moniz, a municipality located in the extreme north of Madeira Island, presents some of the most beautiful images of the Region. Between the grandeur of the mountains and the calm surface of the ocean, the municipality of Porto Moniz also dazzles with the charm of its picturesque parishes, which are overflowing with rich customs.
This entire region is deeply marked by the botanical diversity of the Laurissilva forest, which from above confronts the imposing northern sea, through its cliffs, cliffs and coves. The sea, which exerts a vigorous presence along the entire Madeiran coast, has a special influence in the municipality of Porto Moniz. Since early in the history of its construction, the inhabitants of Porto Moniz depended on fishing activity, which still represents an important factor in the local economy today. This relationship with the sea is also evident in annual celebrations such as “Porto Moniz Sea Week”. This, the largest cultural, recreational and sporting event
