Leave Lisbon as you cross the Tagus River at the Vasco da Gama Bridge. Built for the 1998 Lisbon International Exhibition, this is the largest bridge in Europe, nearly 17 km long.

The medieval castle stands in a dominant position on a cliff above a natural harbor in the Setúbal peninsula, between the Tagus and Sado estuaries, a few kilometers from Cape Espichel.
