The Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) belongs to the EDP Foundation and was inaugurated in 2016 next to the Electricity Museum. It presents national and international exhibitions with contributions from contemporary artists, architects and thinkers. The building has a unique architecture that can be seen in its fullness from the Tagus River.

Torre de Belém is one of the city’s ex-libris. The monument is an icon of the architecture of the reign of King Manuel I, in a synthesis between the keep of medieval tradition and the modern bastion, where artillery pieces were displayed. Its construction was completed in 1520 and, for a long time, the tower had the function of defending the Tagus bar.

In a prominent position on the right bank of the Tagus River, the original monument, in perishable materials, was erected in 1940 at the Portuguese World Exhibition to pay homage to the historical figures involved in the Portuguese Discoveries.
