A great place to overlook the noble city of Lisbon built in the times of the Portuguese empire. The oldest wave-patterned cobblestones, a glimpse of the Carmo convent ruins and the Elevator of Santa Justa give you the perfect starting point to understand the story of the Portuguese people.

Stop At: Moorish Quarter, 1100-394 Lisbon, Portugal
Once used as the Moorish Quarter, Mouraria remained for centuries forgotten in the lower parts of the castle hill. Today it’s the most multicultural area of Lisbon, a colourful surprise in every corner. As we walk up Mouraria feeling the places where the fado song was born, we will find amazing street art, medieval buildings siding with hipster bars and hundred-year-old tiles in a traditional neighbourhood that stopped in time.

As the oldest neighbourhood of Lisbon, Alfama saw Lisbon noble city being born from its castle to become a jewel of Europe. Alfama, always in its back, remained a labyrinth of narrow streets with endless layers of different cultures that tell us a different story. Once home to the old Jewish quarter of Lisbon, the main Mosque and the Roman baths, Alfama is today the most picturesque and traditional place in Lisbon and the main stage for its fabulous viewpoints. In Alfama, we can deeply feel the humble origins of Lisbon.
