You will travel through the tile history in Portugal. Considered one of the most important museums in Portugal and unique in the world, the National Tile Museum has large collections of tiles of the last five centuries, from the century XV to the modernist and contemporary tiles.

It is located in the cloisters of the sixteenth century Convent of Madre de Deus, which was founded in 1509 by Queen D. Leonor, being itself a veritable tile museum, with the magnificent church covered with blue and white Baroque tiles and a cloister with a tiled panel of 36 meters representing Lisbon before the 1755 earthquake. The Convent of Madre Deus is a charming combination of an historical building and the tile museum. Not only you will be able to see the artistic evolution of the tile but you can witness its application in a historical building.
