On your right is a large public square called São Pedro de Alcântara ‘miradouro’, or viewing spot.
This pretty little park provides a welcome patch of greenery for local residents and has a kiosk bar at either end as well as an indoor café, so you’re welcome to take a walk around the park and explore further.

While the ground floor exhibitions are not particularly inspiring, the chance to explore the 18th century Chemistry laboratories of Lisbon University might appeal. The upper floor is full of interactive Maths and Physics exhibits and activities. You can visit either the gardens or museum separately or save money with a combined ticket.
