Visit the Knights Templar headquarter in Portugal, the Convent of Christ in Tomar. Here you will discover the centuries-old link between the Knights Templar and the Kingdom of Portugal. Visit it’s famous manueline window and the original round church (Charola), built at the end of the 12th century by the first great Master of the Templars.

This masterpiece of the Portuguese Gothic resulted from the fulfillment of a promise made by King João I in gratitude for the victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota against the kingdom of Castile (1385), which secured the throne and guaranteed the independence of Portugal.
