Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Avenidas, Rua Nova da Trindade Nº2 – 3º, Lisbon 1200-302 Portugal
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Lisbon/Sintra/Cascais and take you on your journey to learn about Portuguese faith and history.
Stop At: Fatima, Fatima, Santarem District, Central Portugal
The first stop will be Fátima, the world-famous pilgrimage site. Here you will learn all about the appearance of “Our Holy Lady of Fátima”, who appeared to three sheppard children in 1917. It is home of the basilica where all three are buried today.
Stop At: Batalha, Batalha, Leiria District, Central Portugal
Later we move on to Batalha where the famous Batalha Monastery was built in commemoration of the historical battle between Portuguese and Castilan troops in the 14th century. It is one of the most stunning buildings in Gothic architecture and Portuguese history.
Stop At: Alcobaca, Alcobaca, Leiria District, Central Portugal
Our next stop will be Alcobaça, home of yet another UNESCO-listed site, the Alcobaça Monastery. Wrapped around a river, the Alcobaça Monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful sites in Portugal. The monastery is the burial site of Pedro and Inês de Castro. You will hear all about their tragic love story back in the day.
Because we like to give our travelers some degree of flexibility, our last stop can either be Óbidos or Nazaré. Although Óbidos is beautiful and historical, after a long day it may seem more of the same. For that reason, you may prefer ending this incredible day watching the sunset and Nazaré’s world famous Gigantic Waves.
Please note that the Fátima Candle Procession (March-October) happens between 9pm-11pm. We usually trade our last stop for dinner followed by the procession, should you wish to see it.
