Stop at the Portuguese sanctuary of christ redeemer with some of the most beautiful views of Lisbon City. The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ overlooking the city of Lisbon situated in Almada, in Portugal. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, after the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon visited that monument. The project was inaugurated on 17 May 1959. The giant statue was erected to express gratitude because the Portuguese were spared the direct destructive effects of World War II.

Get to know a visionary, a family with almost two centuries of history and the creators of wines that are the true emblems of our country. Everything began over six generations ago in 1834, with an act of irreverence and audacity from founder – Jose Maria da Fonseca. For some, it may have seemed like a thoughtless act, but for many it was a visionary’s first step.

Small historical Village of Azeitão with local Pastry of the region included – the famous Tortas de azeitão!

Visit the Amazing Landscape of Arrábida Natural Park, the protected Mountain with some of the most beautiful beaches of Europe including views to:
– Troia
– Comporta (longest beach in Europe)
– Portinho da Arrábida beach
– Figueirinha Beach

Visit the Fishing Village of Setubal with lunch time and visit the Fort São Filipe. The fort was built on the orders of Philip II of Spain (Philip I of Portugal), who personally witnessed the laying of the cornerstone of the new fortification in 1582. It stands in a dominant position on the right bank of the mouth of the Sado River, overlooking the centre of Setúbal to its east and guarding access to the river. Named after the king during the Iberian Union, the fortress was designed by Giovan Giacomo Paleari Fratino and had the Italian military engineer Filipe Terzi, who worked for the Spanish Royal Court, as its chief engineer. It was completed in 1600 under the guidance of Leonardo Torreano due to the death of Terzi.

Visit to the amazing castle of Palmela with views of the Atlantic Ocean, Tagus and Sado River.
During the Christian Reconquest led by the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, Palmela was part of the defensive line built south of the Tagus. At that time, the king bestowed the lands of Palmela, Almada and Alcácer to the Order of Sant´Iago de Espada which took on responsibility for their defence and settlement. In 1205, king Sancho I reaffirmed this gift installing the Order´s Chapter in the castle.

In the 15th century, king João I set about a series of restoration projects, particularly focusing on the donjon tower, and decreeing the construction of the convent that would become the Order´s headquarters as from 1443. The castle underwent further alterations in the 17th century, during the reign of king Pedro II.

The Santiago convent remained active through to the prohibition of religious orders in 1834. After a period left abandoned, the building was restored by the state in 1945
