One of the most famous attractions of Lisbon Praça do Comercio was once the location of the royal palace Paços da Ribeira, before it was destroyed by the Lisbon earthquake in 1755. This is one of the most magnificent plazas in the world, surrounded by the multiple galleries and restaurants, even the oldest restaurant in Lisbon with almost 300 years history, the Martinho da Arcada.

Carmo Square is another notable plaza of Lisbon. It is a home to the remains of the 14th-century catholic Carmo Convent which serves as one of the last reminders of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, due to not being completely rebuild to our days. Today it is the place for the Carmo Archaeological Museum.

Torre de Belém is considered one of the main symbols of Europe’s Age of Discovery. Almost 500 centuries ago it was a starting place for most of the Portuguese naval expeditions, including famous voyages by Vasco da Gama and Pedro Álvares Cabral, that led to numerous discoveries which had huge cultural impact on the late medieval society. It was built during the peak of the Portuguese Renaissance and serves as the finest example of the Portuguese late Gothic style of architecture.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a long and fascinating history that dates to the 16th century. It was a home to the religious order of Hieronymite, which monks provided spiritual assistance to voyagers who departed from Lisbon in pursuit of the great discoveries of the 16th century. Unique design of a monastery is a result of splendid work by several notable architects and includes motifs from Manueline, Plateresque and Renaissance styles.

Located on a hill of the Graca district, Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is the highest lookout point in Lisbon. Here you can get a spectacular panoramic view of the city as well as Tagus River.
