Stop At: Park and National Palace of Pena, Estrada da Pena, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal

he Palacio Nacional da Pena is one of the finest tourist attractions in Portugal and exemplifies the 19th century Romanticism style of architecture. The palace is a hedonistic mix of vividly painted terraces, decorative battlements and mythological statues, all of which stand at stark contrast to the lush greens of the Parque de Pena forest.
The interior of the Pena Palace is equally as fascinating, being restored to reflect the decor in 1910, when the Portuguese nobility fled to Brazil to escape the revolution. Surrounding the Pena Palace are forested grounds, which continue the design ideals of Romanticism, with hidden pathways, mystical ornaments and stunning vistas.
In Sintra the roman and muslim remains are very present and their influence in culture is present in more than buildings. Sintra has an important landscape value, not only for its leafy mountain forest near the sea yet also for the unique species is holds and the wonderful palaces and castles disposed here.Visit the Moorish Castle, to the most famous Pena Palace.

Stop At: Central Mosque of Lisbon, Rua da Mesquita 2, Lisbon 1070-238 Portugal

The Lisbon Mosque – From 1974, and as a consequence of the Portuguese decolonization movement and the ensuing civil war in the former Portuguese colonies, the number of Muslims increased in Portugal, largely from Portuguese-speaking African countries. In 1979, the government of Mota Pinto gave the Islamic community part of the Royal Prince’s Palace to pray there. However, it was necessary to organize the construction of a space for the Islamic community, a task largely led by Suleiman Valy Mamede , then president of the Islamic Community of Lisbon (CIL).

Although the land request had been completed since 1966, the construction of the mosque did not start until 1979, with the project of architects António Braga and João Paulo Conceição. The mosque would be inaugurated on March 29, 1985. It is a temple of modern architecture.

Its building resulted from the contribution of Islamic countries, ahead of which was Saudi Arabia ($ 1 million), followed by Kuwait, Libya, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

The Central Mosque of Lisbon is the main mosque of the Portuguese Islamic community. As with most mosques, four areas can be distinguished: the entrance, the prayer room (over which a dome stands), the madrasa (Islamic school) and the minaret. The current magnet of the Lisbon mosque is Sheikh David Munir.
