Stop At: Sintra, Sintra, Sintra Municipality, Lisbon District, Central Portugal
Start your day at the Sintra Historical Center. Wander the villa’s medieval streets, and feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy tale. Continue into Pena Palace, where you can explore the palace and its gardens. Enjoy a stunning view over the Atlantic Ocean and Sintra National Park. Travel through the park, glimpsing its rare fauna, distinctive trees, Moorish Castle, Monserrate Palace, and chalets. Next, stop into the famously mystic Quinta da Regaleira palace. Day 2: Fátima, Nazaré, Óbidos and S. Martinho do Porto Beach
Stop At: Fatima, Fatima, Santarem District, Central Portugal
Feel the peaceful environment of Sanctuary of Fátima. Light a candle and visit the great oak tree where the Marian apparitions are said to have appeared. Visit the Apparitions Chapel, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the sanctuary’s other monuments, including a piece of the Berlin Wall. Spend one to two hours in Nazaré, famous for its giant waves and McNamara world record for largest wave ever surfed. Enjoy lunch on the beach while watching the watery giants pound the shore and admiring the lighthouse. Explore Our Lady of Nazaré Sanctuary and Sítio da Nazaré, with its ancient legends and miracles. Discover the beautiful bay of S. Martinho do Porto, this bay in a shell form that connects the land to the ocean. End your day with a visit to Portugal’s most romantic village, Óbidos. Taste Ginja d’Óbidos, a Portuguese liqueur made from ginja berries. Linger in Óbidos approximately 1.5-hours.
