After lunch in Nazaré, it’s time to visit Batalha Monastery, a true masterpiece of Portuguese Late Gothic architecture. You will see the marvelous royal pantheon and learn all about the Battle (Batalha) of Aljubarrota, which paved the way for Portugal to become the first global empire.

The construction took over 150 years, across various phases. This is the reason why one can find not only gothic style (for the most part), but also manualine style and some renaissance touches.
