You will visit the Castle of Tomar and the Convent of Christ that was seat of the Order of the Templars and was the Order of Christ. It was Classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.
The Military Order of the Temple was created in Jerusalem around 1118 to defend holy places in Palestine. Assisted by the Knights Templar during the reconquest of Dom Afonso Henriques, the founder of Portugal donated the lands of Tomar to them in 1160. D. Gualdim Pais, the first Portuguese Grand Master and Knight of the Order of the Templars, ordered the construction of the Castle. After founding the Convent, it became the seat of the Military Order of the Temple in Portugal.

The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, popularly known as Monastery of Batalha, was built by King D. João I, in fulfillment of a promise made on August 14, 1385 to Our Lady, should he win the Castilian army. The Battle against the Spaniards took place in Aljubarrota, south of Batalha and was won by the Portuguese king who hurried to fulfill his promise. The Monastery of Batalha has been is a symbol of Portugal’s independence and is a testament of to the beginning of the second royal dynasty in Portugal, the Avis Dynasty.
Classified in 1983 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Monastery of Batalha results in one of the most imposing Gothic monuments in the entire Iberian Peninsula.

Alcobaça Monastery
You will visit one of the most important medieval monuments in Portugal, the Monastery of Alcobaça. Its construction began in 1178 by the Cistercian Order monks. The Monastery of Alcobaça is the first Portuguese Gothic building. Consecrated in 1252, the church is the tallest and longest in Portugal. It is one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries, where we can find the original dependencies of the monastic ensemble and one of the most monumental churches in the Order. Due to its monumentality, it was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and was also elected as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
