Madeira Trip Overview
This is a medium level 18km run deep into the heart of Madeira’s Laurel forest.
Our route begins in Encumeada and after a long tunnel that leads to the Northside of the island, we’ll start to penetrate in the dense Laurissilva Forest. Straightforward, we’ll climb to Paredão, where we’ll find a rail with more than 200 wooden steps: this requires some muscular endurance.
At Paredão, we’re at the heart of Laurissilva, surrounded by green hills and fantastic views over São Vicente. Continuing through a trail covered by heathers, we’ll reach Lagoa do Caramujo. Arriving at the road of Ginjas, we climb to Pináculo and then go down to the Levada til Lombo do Mouro.
