Madeira Trip Overview

This is a hard level 20 km trail that will guide you to the highest peak of the island, Pico Ruivo. It’s not the easiest way to get there, but it’s, for sure, the gorgeous one.

This route begins in Eira do Serrado and the descent is done by a stone trail in zig-zag til the centre of Curral das Freiras. From here, we’ll follow through some paths til Fajã dos Cardos and Boca das Torrinhas. The course is mainly constituted by trail and basaltic steps til Pico Ruivo where we’ll climb 200m for a 360° view, over the island.

The return is done by an alternative and shorter way through some trails dug into the rock and we’ll finish this route climbing towards the Pico do Areeiro, the third highest peak of the island.
