The Bolhão Market is one of the most emblematic markets in the city of Porto, in Portugal.
Its construction is characterized by its monumentality, typical of neoclassical architecture.
It is aimed mainly at fresh products, especially food. The sellers are divided into different specialized sections, namely: fishmongers, butchers, horticultural and floral areas. On the outside of the building there are stores selling other varieties, such as clothing, coffee shops, perfumeries, fabrics, etc.
The Clérigos Church and Tower (18th century) is a notable architectural complex located in the city of Porto, Portugal, and is considered the city’s postcard.
Designed by architect Nicolau Nasoni, this complex is one of the most notable examples of the late-Baroque style in Portuguese territory and has been classified as a National Monument since 1910.
São Bento Station is an interface on the Minho Line, which serves the city of Porto, in Portugal.
Located in Praça de Almeida Garrett, in the Historic Center of Porto, the station has established itself as one of the main monuments in the city, being especially famous for its tile panels.
The building, with French influence, is the work of Porto architect José Marques da Silva.
The Porto Cathedral, located in the heart of the historic center of the city of Porto, is one of the main and oldest monuments in Portugal.
Its construction began in the first half of the 12th century, and continued until the beginning of the 13th century. This first building, in Romanesque style, underwent many changes over the centuries. The general character of the facade with the towers and the beautiful rose window dates back to the Romanesque period, in addition to the body of the church with three naves covered by a barrel vault. The vault of the central nave is supported by flying buttresses, the Porto Cathedral being one of the first Portuguese buildings in which this architectural element was used.
The Igreja do Carmo, in the Baroque/Rococo style, was built in the second half of the 18th century, between 1756 and 1768, by the Third Order of Carmo, designed by architect José Figueiredo Seixas.
This church was built on land adjacent to the Church of the Carmelites, on the west side, ceded to the Order in 1752. As the construction of two churches together was not permitted at the time, the so-called Casa Escondida do Porto was built between them, which separates the two churches and it is just over 1 and a half meters wide.
It was classified as a National Monument on May 3, 2013, together with the adjacent Carmelite Church.
Cais de Gaia is a tourist area with terraces, restaurants and bars, located on the left bank of the Douro River, in Vila Nova de Gaia, opposite the historic area of Porto, a UNESCO world heritage site, in Portugal.
