Pass By: Peneda-Geres National Park, Peneda-Geres National Park, Northern Portugal

Leaving the “city” and entering the magnificent rural landscapes of the “Green Region”, we will take you along mountain paths up to 1000 meters high, discovering typical villages lost in time where wild cattle roam freely, until viewpoints that contemplate the raw nature of the Serra Amarela.

Stop At: Museu de Vilarinho das Furnas, Sao Joao do Campo s/n – Terras de Bouro Campo do Geres, Braga 4840-030 Portugal

Descending from the mountain, we enter the Campo do Gerês valley, where we will visit the Museological Nucleus, specifically the Ethnographic Museum of Vilarinho das Furnas where the memory and spoils of the agro-silvo-pastoral community life and organization of a typical Gerês village are preserved.

This visit is essential to understand the strength, resilience and ancient way of life that echoes in the “Búrios” people, who have always been the guardians of this natural frontier and place of worship.

Still on the trail of mountaineer tradition, there is nothing better than getting to know the landscapes and the reservoir of Vilarinho da Furna aboard a typical carriage, in the company of pure indigenous “Garrano” horses, native to this region, which will ride us through the splendor of rurality and nature typical of the places and people who live here.

Stop At: Sao Bento da Porta Aberta, Rio Caldo – Terras de Bouro, Terras de Bouro 4845-024 Portugal

From Campo de Gerês, we start our descent towards the river beaches, but not without stopping at a mandatory visiting site – The Sanctuary of São Bento da Porta Aberta.

This sanctuary is the 2nd largest pilgrimage center in Portugal , where pilgrims have flocked since the 17th century. From the Basilica to the crypt, with its beautiful tiles depicting biblical scenes, culminating with its magical landscaped surroundings overlooking the magnificent landscapes of Serra do Gerês, which we can appreciate from the top of the Sanctuary viewpoint.

Stop At: Rio Caldo, Rio Caldo, Braga District, Northern Portugal

Light and relaxed after visiting the Sanctuary, we invite you to enjoy a moment of free time with your family and friends, to enjoy the tranquil river beaches. You will also have the possibility of performing water activities (optional, not included) in a moment of fun that will mark your day.
