Construction of the 12th / 13th century, in Romanesque style, was subject to enlargements and renovations over time until its final alteration, in an idealized reconstruction of the medieval cathedral, as early as the twentieth century. Noteworthy: from the fourteenth century, in Gothic style, the cloister and the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist; the enlargement of the chancel, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament and its 17th century silver altar in the mannerist style; from the 18th century Baroque, the frescoes of the chancel and the sacristy, by Nicolau Nasoni, as well as the cloister tiles by Vital Rifarto; from the 19th century, the sculpture of Teixeira Lopes (father) in the Baptismal Chapel.
