A beautiful town at the foot of the mountain range of the same name, its unique characteristics have led UNESCO to classify it as a World heritage site. The fantastic Palácio da Pena is one of the best examples of 19th-century Romantic revivalism in Portugal.

Stop At: Palacio Nacional e Jardins de Queluz, Queluz Portugal
The Palace of Queluz and its gardens, represents one of the finest examples of late 18th-century Portuguese architecture.
Built at the orders of Pedro III, the husband of D. Maria I (1734-1816), and used as a royal residence, this palace is one of the finest examples of Portuguese architecture in the late 18C.

Stop At: Santuario da Peninha, N247, Sintra 2705-000 Portugal
The present chapel dates from the eighteenth century, the period in which a hermit sought refuge here. The pulpit includes various inscriptions made by pilgrims.
The high altar has a Barroque decorated panel with spiral columns and the walls covered in a Florentine mosaic. The Chapel, dating from the end of the seventeenth century is panelled with illustrated blue and white eighteenth-century azulejo tiles.
