What to Expect When Visiting Sintra, Central Portugal, Portugal
Do you want to enjoy two famous and scenic villages along with some amazing traditional Portuguese treats on this Lisbon small group tour. This will tickle your tastebuds and give you photos and memories for a lifetime.
This popular small group tour allows you to enjoy two beautiful villages, both with their own different charms. The tours of Sintra and Cascais offer some amazing natural landscapes and lots of photo opportunities.
After meeting at the cruise port we head to Sintra, this has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995, we offer you the local famous puff pastries, known as travesseiros (pillow). These light pastries are rolled and folded seven times before being filled with almond-and-egg-york cream. There are also their renowned cheesecakes, which are so good that they were once used as a means of paying rent!
Once we have enjoyed these we head to the picturesque Pena Palace, dating back to 1839 when King Ferdinand II bought the palace and changed it to suits his romantic tastes. We will also take in the stunning cape Cabo Da Roca before we arrive at Cascais.
Cascais is a coastal resort town in Portugal, just west of Lisbon. It’s known for its sandy beaches and busy marina. The old town is home to the medieval Nossa Senhora da Luz Fort and the Citadel Palace, a former royal retreat. You will see the Boca do Inferno, a famous cavern on the seaside cliffs. You will be shown and given the chance to taste Santini’s Gelati, a famous ice cream for over 60 years here.
We suggest booking this tour early to avoid disappointment as it books out early due to small group tour feel that cruise guests love over the large coach tours.
Please Note: The Pena Palace entrance fee (13 EUR per person) is not included in the tour price.
