Stop At: Bacalhoa Palace and Estate, Estrada Nacional 10, Vila Nogueira de Azeitao 2925-710 Portugal
The vineyard has 14ha and was planted in 1972. At the request of Thomas Scoville, then proprietor of Quinta da Bacalhôa, António Avillez installed a vineyard here to produce a wine with a vineyard similar to that used in Bordeaux, namely in the Médoc.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot are the red varieties produced here.
Considered to be the most beautiful farmhouse of the first half of the fifteenth century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an old property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famous Bacalhôa Palace are artistic monuments of the greatest importance to the country.
