Vila, Porto Moniz Trip Overview
Hidden between the valleys of the North of Madeira Island there is a sea level small piece of land that stays in the memory of everyone who visits it.
Historically this was an agriculture area. Wine was its most important product and everything was done using traditional tools and methods.
Nowadays this is a protected area. No electricity grid and almost no cell service. This is a great place to walk, relax and enjoy the view.
This tour begins in Porto Moniz at 09:00 and we head towards the Calhau das Achadas da Cruz.
We return to The Feira do Gado Picnic Park.
In afternoon we go to Paul da Serra to see several viewpoints.
The next stop is Ponta de Pargo Light House.
After that we visit the Garganta Funda Viewpoint and continue to Pico Vermelho Viewpoint, stands on a cliff, 420 metres above sea level with a beautiful view to Atlantic Ocean.
Then we go offroad to to Capela da Nossa Senhora da Boa Morte – Cabo, returning after to your hotel.

The natural pools of Porto Moniz are the ex-libris of the municipality, which is a major tourist attraction. This holiday complex consists of pools formed from volcanic rocks with very singular shapes, where the sea comes in naturally always providing fresh and clear waters.

The Véu da Noiva Viewpoint, located between Seixal and São Vicente, enables visitors to see the Véu da Noiva waterfall and the northern coast of Madeira Island. Situated on the old road which connects Seixal to São Vicente, the Véu da Noiva Viewpoint offers one of the most typical landscapes of Madeira. From this point you can see the Véu da Noiva Waterfall, which resembles a bride’s veil, due to its height and the torrents of water that gush down the hillside.
From this viewpoint there is also a pleasant view of the Atlantic and the slopes of the northern coast of Madeira.

Here you can enjoy pleasant moments at the Natural Pools of Seixal. This bathing area allows contact with the sea in pools formed by volcanic black stone, with a view of the mountains and nature that surrounds them.
Along the old road that connects the parish of Seixal to the town of São Vicente there is the “Véu da Noiva” Belvedere, from where you can view a waterfall that pours a strong load of water down the slope, reminding us of a bride’s white veil.

Its name comes from a small island, which rises about 100 meters from the mouth of the stream, and which has an opening that looks like an open window. This parish has about 750 inhabitants living in traditional houses, in an environment of great calmness and tranquility.
In relation to economic activities, agriculture, some services and tourism homes in rural areas stand out.
In Ribeira da Janela we find the Viewpoint of Traquada that offers a wonderful view over the north of the island. This Viewpoint has tables and benches which can be used for picnics.
At the mouth of Ribeira da Janela there is a campsite with excellent facilities and various services and infrastructure to support campers.
